After starting the 2002 NASCAR Winston Cup season with a last place finish at the Daytona 500, Tony Stewart rebounded for 3 wins and 15 Top 5’s in 36 races with an average finish of 12.6 to secure his first Winston Cup Series Championship in only his 4th season. Offered here from that championship season is a helmet worn by Tony Stewart. Made by Simpson, the size 6 7/8 helmet has been decorated with a paint job from Beam Designs (Jason Beam) displaying sponsor logos of the Home Depot, Coca-Cola and J.D. Byrider among others while a ghost flames design extends toward the back of the helmet. “Tony Stewart” is seen on the sides in chrome letters with the back carrying Beam's signature and serial number designating the helmet as the 21st helmet painted by Beam in 2002 and indicating the helmet would be from early on in the season as Beam painted the helmets for 20+ drivers. Fully intact, the right side has the cords and connectors for radio communications while the left has an air hose connector on the cheek. All the straps and metal hardware are present. An iridescent visor is seen on the front and has been signed by Stewart with a crisp silver ink signature that displays without issue. The helmet remains in fantastic condition exhibiting lighter wear including a small paint chip on the front crown and a few spots of wear on the top of the helmet. The helmet is from the personal collection of Ed Belfour and his signed LOA will accompany.
