Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015

Mark Twain probably said it best, “Humor is mankind’s greatest blessing”. This group of 9 signatures represent individuals who have lived by that axiom. Included are signatures and sketches from humorists and cartoonists including Hank Ketcham, Red Skeleton, Jerry Lewis, Lynn Johnston and Dean Young, with most being addressed to our consignor. A JSA auction LOA will accompany these signed pieces.
1 – Hank Ketcham. 3” x 5” index card signed by Ketcham in red marker, it includes a sketch of his cartoon character Dennis the Menace with “Just for good ol’ Doug”. In excellent condition, it includes the original mailing envelope from Ketcham that’s postmarked 1981.
2 – Fibber McGee. 5” x 7” B&W photo of Fibber with Molly, it’s been signed by actor James Jordan in red, and it includes a dedication to the original recipient. The original 1980 mailing envelope from Jordan also accompanies.
3 – Dean Young. 4” x 5 ½” card signed by Young, it includes a sketch of his famous character Blondie, with full family. Dated 1/28/81, it is in perfect condition and it includes the original mailing envelope from Young, with additional Dagwood drawing.
4 – Lynn Johnston. 3” x 5” card signed by Johnston in pencil with a sketch of her characters from For Better or For Worse. In excellent condition, it’s accompanied by a period cartoon.
5 – Wayne and Shuster. 3” x 5” card signed by both in felt pen, it includes a typed letter on official W&S letterhead. In excellent condition.
6 – Ben Wicks. 7” x 11” page from 1984 Wicks calendar, it’s been signed on the right in blue pen with dedication. In beautiful condition overall.
7 – Jim Unger. 8” x 10” page from one of his books signed in blue sharpie with “82”. Both the signature and page itself are in excellent condition.
8 – Red Skeleton. 5” x 7” photo of Skeleton signed in black marker with “My Thanks”, both the photo and signature are in excellent condition.
9 – Jerry Lewis. 3” x 5” index card signed by Lewis in black marker with “All good wishes” and the date 12/80. Both the signature and photo are in excellent condition, and it’s accompanied by the original envelope and B&W 8” x 10” of Lewis.
