Rejean Houle returned to the NHL and the Montreal Canadiens just in time to take part in the most successful season any team ever enjoyed in the league. Houle, who had spent the previous three seasons with the WHA Quebec Nordiques, had 22 goals and 52 points for the 1976-77 Habs, who went 60-8-12 for 132 points, a league record that stands to this day. Reggie’s No. 15 game-worn road jersey has a garter-style fight strap and Wilson size 44 tagging in the back of the neck. There is nice pilling inside the jersey and puckering to the CH crest on the front and the numbers on the back and both sleeves. A slashing diagonal black mark on the left front tail is among the solid game wear on display here.
Nice game wear throughout includes black marks low on the front of the both sleeves, red and blue transfer on the lower white stripe on the left sleeve, which has board burns and unrepaired burn holes, board burns and burn holes on the doubled left shoulder yoke, an unrepaired oval hole in the outer layer in the middle of the doubled front hem, board burns, burn holes and marks on the front tail, fabric runs and unrepaired holes on the upper left front and top of the front left sleeve, and wear to the red thread sewing line on the red twill of the triple twill CH crest sewn on the front. Included is photo evidence of Rejean Houle wearing a similar jersey with one photo showing the sewing line near collar and other photos showing the placement of team crest and the numbers on the sleeves and the back. The 1976-77 Canadiens lost just one of 40 home games during the regular season. They went 12-1 in the playoffs, including a four-game sweep of the two-time reigning champion Philadelphia Flyers to to cap their incredible season with a 20th Stanley Cup.
