Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
The year 2006 was Jacques Villeneuve’s last season in Formula One. He participated in only 12 of 18 races as his season ended after a heavy crash at the German Grand Prix. Still, in only a partial season he managed to finish 15th overall in the World Championship with a best finish of 6th at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Bell Racing Europe painted this HP3 helmet in Jacques' traditional paint scheme and tagged it 2006-04. The helmet has also had the flag of San Marino attached to the back noting it was one of the helmets worn during the 2006 San Marino Grand Prix in Imola, Italy, where Jacques started 12th and finished 12th. The helmet shows tremendous wear and use with a number of small chips in the paint. The drink tube has been drilled out and the Hans clips remain intact. The race radio has been removed, likely to be used in another helmet. A single tear-off remains attached to the race visor where Villeneuve applied his signature. Also included is a Bell carrying bag with “J.V. 06-02” handwritten annotations. This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
