Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Jacques Villeneuve first wears this helmet during the 2002 German Grand Prix held at the famous Hockenheim Circuit July 26-28 were he qualified 12th and then exited the race after only 27 laps with a broken gearbox. The helmet is then used again on Jan 20-21, 2003 during spring testing in Barcelona Spain.
The Bell K1 helmet was painted by Bell Racing Europe in Jacques' traditional paint scheme and is tagged 2002-12 on the back. The helmet then had the German flag decal attached by Bell trackside staff during the German GP weekend. When the helmet was brought back out for testing a Lucky Strike decal was affixed to the chin. The helmet shows nice wear with a number of small chips in the paint. Jacques has added heli-tape over most of the vents as well as on the corners of the eye-port. The full race radio remains intact as well as the signed visor which still has three extra tear-off remaining on it. Also included is the original Bell carrying bag with “J.V. 2002-12” handwritten annotations. This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
