Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
On November 22, 2003 the Edmonton Oilers made NHL history by hosting the league's first ever modern era outdoor game, an Oilers-Canadiens tilt in front of a record 57,000 plus freezing fans in Commonwealth Stadium and millions more watching around the world on television. The regular season game was eagerly anticipated, but so was the inclusion of the Oilers and Habs Mega Stars game played beforehand featuring legendary and long-retired Wayne Gretzky and Guy Lafleur and other fan favorites, and in preparation for the big game, the teams' legends took to the Commonwealth Stadium ice surface on November 21st for one last practice. Offered is the jersey worn by Oilers defenceman Craig Muni during that Oilers Mega Stars practice, with the blue jersey displaying his name and number "28" on the back and tagged in the collar as a size "58". The team crest and "NHL Center Ice" patches are sewn on, while on the back, Muni's name lettering and number are heat pressed, with Muni signing between his numbers in clear and dark marker. Definitely a cool jersey worn on a cool day in Edmonton, and comes with an Oilers LOA.
