Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
HOFer Joe Nieuwendyk (ind. 2011) handled this Sher-Wood stick in the late-1990s/early-2000s with the Dallas Stars, his second team after his glory years in Calgary, and before moving on to the Devils, Leafs, and finally the Panthers. It’s important to note that in the era when Joe would use this gamer, he would be awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP after the Stars hoisted the Stanley Cup in 1998-99. With original black tape on the blade and gauze over white tape for the knob, this gamer shows “Nieuwendyk” stamped on the upper shaft, a handwritten black mark has been placed on the white knob tape, and puck marks and red paint transfer line areas of the shaft. Nice game-used stick from a fellow with a HOF resume who moved on to management when his playing days came to an end.
