Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
A longtime hobbyist’s jaw-dropping assembly of Parade Sportive hockey and baseball pictures, this formidable collection will pique the interest of serious vintage collectors, especially Canadiens enthusiasts. The scope and scarcity of some of the pieces offered in conjunction with Paul Stuart’s French radio program and present here is impressive. A binder commences with two different 1945-46 editions of a Canadiens photo album and an original mailing envelope and then includes examples of non-Montreal hockey stars from the Bruins, Hawks, Wings and other teams. Numerous Habs team pics , “line” shots and individual poses are present, along with seemingly duplicates, although subtle differences (text size), actually make for variations. The Rocket, Blake, Lach, Durnan and Bouchard highlight the hockey lineup, while Jackie Robinson and Montreal Royals team photos lead 21 baseball pictures. Larger-size variations with advertising, along with some duplicates, complete the extravaganza. Further inviting details are on our website.
A longer-than-usually-seen Jackie Robinson picture has advertising beneath the legend’s name and evidence of once having been held in a photo album by four black “corners”, one of them still partially affixed at the bottom left corner. The team photo of the 1946 Royals includes a few light bends in the upper portion. Meanwhile back to the hockey examples, a few very scarce green/red/blue-tinted pictures are oh!-provoking, with pics of the Kraut Line and the Pony Line highlighting players from other NHL teams, with Lindsay, Lumley and Broda other notables. A dozen players posed in non-NHL uniforms include goalies Gerry McNeil, Sugar Jim Henry (Ottawa Commandoes), Connie Dion and Jean Marois. Also interesting are group shots of the Punch Line, Lamoureux-Durnan-Bouchard, Gagnon-Morenz-Joliat, the Razzle Dazzle Line and Gauthier-O’Connor-Hiller. An instant and extensive collection or great break-up value for an entrepreneurial hobbyist, this special collection offers several possibilities and is...magnifique!
