Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
From the club’s second season in the NHL comes this Winnipeg Jets jersey game-worn by Bill Whelton in 1980-81. With Sandow size and laundry tagging in collar and skate lace fight strap, there’s an additional rubberized Sandow logo on the bottom hem. Game-wear includes a few black marks on the garment’s front and back with matching board burns with resulting hole on each elbow, as well as some loose threading on both sleeves and a team repair on the seam of the right elbow. There is also some puckering to the team crest, numbers and nameplate.
It is also important to mention that Whelton only played 2 games for Winnipeg in 1980-81, his only year with the team. A pair of loose threads under the current nameplate indicates a former one was once attached, and Tom Bladon and Dave Hoyda who both played 9 games with the club are also shown as wearing #21 in 1980-81 with the Jets.
