With 16 goals and 41 points, Joe Thornton made it a solid sophomore season as a 19-year-old with the Boston Bruins. The No. 1 pick in the 1997 NHL Draft, Thornton started to show his stuff in his second season in the Hub wearing No. 6 before he later switched to his familiar No. 19. NHL Center Ice, Starter and size 56-R tagging are sewn in the back of the neck of Thornton’s Bruins game-worn third jersey. The “Boston Bruins 75 Years” patch is sewn on the right breast and Bruins 1st Set 1998-99 Season and Bruins 75th anniversary team patches are screened in white inside the rear tail along with Custom Crafted logo. Solid game wear includes nine team repairs. Jersey is photo-matched to the black mark on the edge of the #6 on the right sleeve, and a small stick mark above it, and to a loose thread on the number 6 on the other sleeve. Comes with a Bruins LOA.
There are five team repairs on the left sleeve, three on the right, and one on the right shoulder. More game wear includes a black mark on the left side of the Bruins crest on the front and onto the right front, another black mark where the front left shoulder and sleeve seams meet, and more black marks on the front, back and both sleeves. Board burns on the sleeves, on the left shoulder with a burn hole, and on the left front tail. The photo-match is from a photo dated from February 7th 1999 and Thornton is listed as having scored a goal in that particular game.
