Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Participating in numerous leagues throughout his career including the AHL, DEL, LNAH and others, Francois Groleau was drafted by Calgary in 1991 and saw NHL action in eight regular-season contests spread over parts of three seasons with the Montreal Canadiens (1995-98). This Canadiens jersey was issued for Groleau’s use in 1999-00 (he spent the season with the Habs' Quebec Citadelles farm club). Pro Player and size “58” labels are affixed to the collar, with Pro Player and NHL crests over the reverse hem. Styled with the most famous team crest in hockey, “54” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with “Groleau” across the affixed nameplate in single white twill. The NHL 2000 crest is also sewn just above the right breast. Issued but never worn, there is evidence of a former nameplate, but with no player listed wearing the #54 in games before 2001, we are unsure who the jersey would have originally been issued to. An LOA from the Montreal Canadiens will accompany.
