Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
One of the modern game’s toughest competitors, knocking out perennial fighter Bob Probert in just his second NHL fight, Todd Ewen dressed for four different NHL clubs throughout his career. The Saskatoon native brought his hockey expertise to coaching after retiring, spending time with the Chesterfield Hockey Association and Saint Louis University Billikens before his untimely death at the age of 49. This Montreal Canadiens jersey was issued to Ewen during the early-1990s, circa 1990-91, with his tenure with the Habs lasting from 1989 to 1993. A Maska label resides along the collar with handwritten and faded “54” sizing, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests over the reverse hem. Styled with the most famous team crest in hockey, “36” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with “Ewen” across the affixed nameplate in single white twill. Game-issued, the jersey does sport a mark over the right sleeve that does not appear to originate from game use, and with the fight strap showing signs of the jersey being washed, the possibility of use by Ewen exists. An LOA from the Montreal Canadiens will accompany.
