Items representing the vintage game are offered, with desirable ephemera of the world’s fastest sport including calendars, team crests, postcards, ink blotters and much more. Ranging from the early-1900s until the late-1950s and totaling 27, the lot is highlighted by a pair of rare Ottawa Senators postcards from the early-1900s that feature embroidered mini-flags designed to be removed and sewn to clothing articles. Included with the postcards, we have six different calendars, with one featuring hockey imagery from 1918 (8” x 10”), one for the Monroe Savings Bank with mounted hockey girl for 1925 (7 ½” x 10 ½”), and four from the 1950s. This is followed by three vintage team crests (1920s to 1950s), along with a fourth multi-sport example for the University of Pittsburgh, six ink blotters including examples featuring Nels Stewart, Bill Cook and Lloyd Klein, a child’s scribbler with an image of the 1931 Renfrew Juniors Hockey Club, two signed youth league hockey contracts from the 1920s for Roger Gaudette and more.
Also included, we have a Harper’s Round Table magazine from 1896 with hockey cover (8” x 11”, removed from a bound volume), a copy of Tip Top Weekly from 1903 with hockey cover, a Planerts Skates warranty card picturing Art Coulter and Mush March (6” x 8 ½”, heavy wear), a Brooks skating outfit label from the 1920s (3 ½” x 9”, moderate wear) and more!
