Featuring the first American franchise in NHL history, this lot contains a great grouping of Boston Bruins team-issued photos totaling approx 180 and ranging from the Stanley Cup championship season of 1938-39, to 1980-81, with the majority hailing from the 1970s. All glossy black and white prints with most in the 8” x 10” range, included, we have 9 rare and highly desirable photos from 1938-39 (all 7” x 9”), including Dit Clapper, Cooney Weiland, Ray Getliffe and others, 27 photos from 1962-63 (6” x 8 ½”) including Johnny Bucyk, Milt Schmidt, Ted Green and others, 5 photos from circa-1970 including Ed Johnston, 30 photos from 1971-72, 9 photos from 1972-73, 27 photos from 1973-74, 20 photos from 1974-75, 19 photos from 1978-79, 6 photos from 1979-80 and 22 photos from 1980-81 including Bourque (second year). As an added bonus, there are 4 additional vintage 8” x 10” photos including Ross with Clapper, Ross with Clarence Campbell and Charlie Conacher with two others.
The majority of the photos display well with light handling wear along with the odd crease or corner ding. The earlier examples from 1938-39 exhibit toning along with surface lines, with spotting over the reverse of a few, with the majority having the players name handwritten on the lower reverse.
