Packed with vital contemporary information including player biographies, stats and rules, this collection of 16 National Hockey Guides will leave the winning bidder with hours of reading material. Included is the inaugural edition from 1932-33, along with examples from 1933, 1935 (2), 1937, 1939, 1942, 1943, 1945 (2), 1946 (2), 1947, 1949 (2) and 1950. A number of hockey personalities grace the covers, including Morenz (first edition), Conacher, Clapper, Lach, Rayner and more. The first edition from 1932-33 presents well, with wear along the spine including rusty staples, along with toning to the back cover and a small tear at the top of the spine.
Most examples remain in acceptable condition, with normal handling wear including toning, spine wear and light creasing. The following guides in the collection show considerable condition issues. 1) 1932 edition. Coverless, the first page is detached with clear tape present. There is also heavy toning along with a few pencil/ink notations. 2) 1937 guide. The cover exhibits surface wear with 2 tears along the spine. The bottom and top right corners also show loss. 3 & 4) 1935 guides. Both copies have detached from their covers, with creasing, toning and heavy surface wear. 5) 1943 guide. The cover and spine exhibit considerable wear, with staining at the top of a number of the back pages. 6) 1949 guide. The cover exhibits surface wear, creasing, staple rust and pencil marks, along with heavy toning to the reverse.
