The Islanders became the first playoff team to claim the Prince of Wales Trophy in 1981-82 when it was awarded to the winner of the Wales Conference Final for the first time. HOF goalie Billy Smith received this miniature Prince of Wales Trophy after the Isles swept Quebec in four straight to advance to the Stanley Cup final, where they defeated Minnesota in five to win their third straight title. Standing 13", including the 2-inch-tall wood base, this well-preserved miniature retains its green felt under the base, and features a nameplate on one side of the base reading "NHL Champions New York Islanders 1981-82" with "H.R.H. Prince of Wales Trophy Bill Smith” on a plaque on the opposite side. Comes with Billy Smith’s signed LOA.
