Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Kirk McLean’s road to pro hockey featured a stellar minor hockey career. McLean proudly wore the Don Mills Flyers black leather team jacket, offered here, which could use a good cleaning to restore it to its once proud state. The snap button front bomber jacket with a size "38" mens flag tag in the neck displays a Flyers crest on the left breast, McLean’s No. "29" on the right sleeve and a “Major Midget” patch on the left sleeve, all featuring chenille. A pair of framed certificates from the City of North York and McLean’s 1982-1983 Metro Toronto Hockey League midget champions plaque are also included, with both of McLean’s North York certificates signed by mayor Mel Lastman and displayed in 14" x 9" silver-coloured frames. The North York certificate, dated April 12, 1981, was presented to McLean as a member of the Don Mills Flyers, All-Ontario Bantam Major Hockey Champions. The glass has been removed from the frame and the certificate has a tear on the bottom right edge. The North York certificate, dated June 13, 1983, was awarded to McLean for the Flyers’ Ontario Hockey Association championship, and the glass in the frame is cracked. The 1982-83 MTHL midget major champions 8" x 6" wood plaque has no name. Lot comes with Kirk McLean’s signed LOA.
