Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Cool mix of early-1960s “Original Six” nodders features three regular size 6 1/2" bobbing head dolls from the 1962-63 season and four 5” tall mini-nodders from 1961-62. Boston and Montreal are represented in both sets with a Rangers doll also among the regular size nodders. In addition to the Habs and Bruins, the mini-nodders also include Toronto and Detroit. The mini-nodders are nice and clean and absolutely wonderfully preserved overall. The regular size nodders are also nicely preserved overall with a few flaws to note. Nice big grouping of nodders to help fill in some sets or get a collection started!
The “Japan” sticker remains under the base of the Boston mini-nodder while the Maple Leafs, Canadiens and Red Wings minis all have open holes on the bottom.
The regular size Bruins nodder has tape strips attached to the bottom of the base including one in the middle with the notation “Boston Gardens (sic), Toronto-Boston, Dec. 4/66” in red ink.
The regular size Montreal nodder has a chip on the bottom left edge of the front of the base and a crack below the left ear on the head, which has a few light chips on the bottom edge at the opening of the head.
The regular size Rangers nodder has a diagonal crack on the left side of the head, a pair of smaller cracks on the right side of the head, and a small paint chip on the bottom left edge of the front of the base.
