The nameplate says “Tiepkorn” but it was actually Dave “Piepkorn” who was issued this white Browns jersey during the Browns’ 1984 training camp. But this jersey is more than just a game-issued jersey. Apparently the orange numbers on both the brown and white jerseys from the 1984 pre-season were too hard to read from the stands and press box and were promptly changed to white numbers. This game-issued jersey with the rubberized numbers and nameplate has two wom patches sewn into the hem, reading as “Medalist, Designed &Tailored Exclusively for the Cleveland Browns AFC, size 48”. Piepkorn, who was cut from camp in August of ’84, never wore this in preseason, possibly because of the nameplate error, and which accounts for no game-wear evidence.
