Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Hall of Famer Gary Carter, inducted into Cooperstown in 2003 after a glorious career with the Expos, Mets, Giants, and Dodgers, has signed in clear and bold black marker on an 8” x 10” photo posed in his red Expos jersey, with the professionally framed and matted montage also displaying a 1 ¾” x 3 ½” embroidered Expos patch and a 2” x 7 ¼” plaque listing the “Kid’s” impressive career accomplishments. Although a great catcher and hitter wherever he played, Carter became an iconic and much-loved figure in Montreal from his days there - 1974 to 1984 and then one final season in 1992, so much so that a street and park in Montreal were named after him. The 11-time All-Star would pass away in 2012 at age 57. The montage remains in wonderful condition with just a few small nicks and scratches on the wooden frame and a small tear on the reverse mounted paper to note. Also offered is a great 8" x 10" photo of Carter, Tim Raines, and Andre Dawson posing in their Expos uniforms, nicely signed in clear blue marker by all three. Dawson, whose career ran from 1977 to 1996, was inducted into Cooperstown as an Expo in 2010. The speedy Raines has yet to be inducted, but there is a growing movement to have the honor bestowed upon him. Wonderful items from some truly great Expos players.
