Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
All-time saves leader Mariano Rivera hung up his cleats at the end of the 2013 season with the staggering total of 652 to his credit. The New York Yankees legend is a sure bet for the Hall of Fame when he becomes eligible and his number 42 is pretty much a lock to be retired by the team. Offered are Rivera’s Yankees Nike game-worn cleats, which were purchased in October 2007. Mo’s number “42” is embroidered on the front of the tongue of each cleat, and “Rivera” is embroidered on the outside edge of the heel of both. Flag tags inside the shoes indicate a size 11 and both exhibit solid game wear that includes soil stains, dirt and marks. The right cleat has a rubberized insert on the front toe and the shoes were obtained from the scout who signed Rivera, according to a previous consignor.
