The legendary Jackie Robinson’s autograph is featured on this team-signed 1946 Montreal Royals Spalding International League baseball. This remarkable ball signed by 16 members of the Junior World Series champs is from the season that Jackie integrated professional baseball and first broke the color barrier in the minors prior to doing the same in the majors the following season with the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Royals' parent club. Robinson, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962 and died 10 years later, won the IL batting title with a .349 average. He and the Royals won the Governors' Cup as league champions with a 100-54 (.649) record, and then went on to defeat Louisville of the American Association in six games to take top honors in the minor leagues. Robinson’s black ink autograph is the first of three on the panel to the left of the “Official International League” stamp with league president Shaughnessy’s facsimile signature. Vintage “International League Champion, Governor’s Cup Winner, Junior World Series Champions” inscription is handwritten in black ink below the Spalding stamp and through the sweet spot. Other notable signatures include Campanis, Rackley, Riggs, Howell and Roy. Comes with an LOA from JSA. Other members of the 1946 Royals who have signed are Buker, Burge, Cardoni, Fontaine, Gabbard, Jorgensen, Kehn, Nagy, Laga and Schoendienst.
