Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Mighty fine Louisville gamer handled by goaltender Mike Liut during the 1985-86 campaign with the now-defunct Hartford Whalers, featuring Liut's original white tape job on the blade and knob, and with a nice scattering of marks, mostly on the blade. Liut has signed above the paddle in clear blue ballpoint pen as "Best Wishes, Mike Liut", while on the upper shaft, "Liut" has been screened on, and on the opposite side is what appears to be a "Jan.31, 1986" stamp, although it's not out of the realm of possibility that it could be 1985, which would have Liut playing for the St. Louis Blues at that time. Regardless, it's a cool goalie stick from a solid backstopper who began his pro career with the WHA Cincinnati Stingers in 1977-78 and ended things in 1991-92 with the Washington Capitals (with St. Louis and Hartford wedged between).
