Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Colorful and unique are these 2 game-worn jerseys from the QMJHL Sherbrooke/St. Jean Beavers from the early-1980s, with both tagged in the collar as "Maska Ultrafil" (no size tag), and with the rubberized image of a hockey playing beaver on the front and rubberized numbers (7 and 16) on the backs and sleeves (some slight flaking has occurred on the crests). Neither jersey has a nameplate, but evidence of former ones exist. Condition-wise sees number "7" with more than 10 repairs on the front, several more on the sleeves, a tear in the right sleeve underarm, and a scattering of marks, material pulls, pilling, and board burns. The number "16" gamer has an abundance of small unrepaired holes, particularly on the sleeves but several on the front as well, along with a plethora of marks and stains. The Sherbrooke Castors or Sherbrooke Beavers (in English) was the name of two different junior ice hockey teams in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Both franchises played at the Palais des Sports in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The Castors (1969-1982) moved to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec in 1982 and named the Saint-Jean Castors. The original Castors franchise won the President's Cup in 1975, 1977 and 1982 and played in the Memorial Cup in those three years, coming closest to winning in 1982 when they lost in the tournament final to the Kitchener Rangers. Comes with an LOA from Classic Auctions.
