Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Russian-born Igor Korolev, killed in the 2011 Lokomotiv Yaroslavl air disaster, played 795 games in the NHL from 1992 to 2004 and it was during the 1999-2000 campaign with the Toronto Maple Leafs, his third of four seasons with the Buds, that he donned this game-worn Set 2 home jersey. Tagged in the collar as a CCM with a nearby size “56” flap, this gamer has two patches sewn on the right breast, the “2000 NHL All-Star” patch signifying the game held in Toronto that year, plus the “2000” millennium patch just below. This gamer has marks scattered about, including a nice amount on the sleeves which also shows a team repair on the left sleeve and two unrepaired holes on the right sleeve. On the inside hem is a sewn-on “1999-2000 Leafs Game-Worn Set 2 Limited-Edition” patch, and the accompanying LOA, signed by the Leafs head equipment manager Brian Papineau, says this jersey was worn by Korolev in selected games during the second half of the 1999-2000 regular season.
