Hall of Famer Denis Potvin’s Koho gamer is featured in this lot of five great defensemen’s game-used sticks that also includes a pair of Kevin Hatcher’s gamers and single twigs used by Roman Hamrlik and Sandis Ozolinsh. “D Potvin” is stamped on the shaft of the New York Islanders great’s Koho gamer which retains Denis’ tape jobs on the knob and blade. The first overall pick in the 1973 NHL Draft, Potvin won the Norris Trophy three times and captained the Islanders dynasty that won four straight Stanley Cups from 1980-83. Denis’ retired number “5” is handwritten in black marker below the white tape wrap at the bottom of the knob. Solid and crack-free gamer has an “Oct 10” date stamp with the year obscured by fiberglass and remnants of tape wrapped around the bottom of the shaft, likely when packed with other gamers by team equipment staff for transport. Hatcher has signed one of his two gamers, the white Hespeler 5500 with “K. Hatcher” stamped on the shaft. Kevin placed a nice big bold black marker autograph low on the shaft. Both tape jobs on the knob and blade are intact. “Hatcher” is stamped on the shaft of Kevin’s Koho Profibre 2211 game-used stick which also has both of its original tape jobs. “Hamrlik” is stamped on the shaft of this Koho wood gamer used by the first overall pick in the 1992 NHL Draft. Roman’s tape jobs remain on the knob and blade. There is clear tape wrapped around the middle of the shaft though there does not appear to be a crack. Ozolinsh’s number “8” is handwritten in black marker below the tape job on the knob of his Koho Revolution game-used stick which has a crack on the back of the lower shaft. This gamer has Sandis’ tape job on the knob and his tape job on the toe of the blade.
