Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Awesome white mesh Hartford Whalers home gamer was worn by center Michel Galarneau during his 1980-81 rookie season, the first of parts of three NHL seasons he played for the Whalers in the early-1980s. The Whalers crest is sewn on the front, secondary whale logos are sewn on both shoulders, numbers on the back and both sleeves and individual surname letters are sewn directly onto the jersey, all in green and blue double twill. Good Sports tagging in the back of the neck features three flag tags at the bottom, including a size “50” and an “80” for the year. Wonderfully preserved double-garter style fight strap remains inside the jersey. Game wear shows in black marks on the front and on the sleeves, with a few more on the back.
White chenille stitching forms the whale’s eye on both secondary logo patches on the shoulders.
The third flag tag has laundry instructions.
There are two black marks on the middle of the right front, to the left of the bottom left of the Whalers crest. The upper mark has a small burn hole. There are more black marks on the sleeves and horizontal black marks to the left of the “1” sewn on the back, and both numbers have some marks that show on the green twill upper layer.
