Among the most sought after and desirable collectibles from the pre-war era are these colorized pictures that were inserts in Montreal Forum game programs during the 1934-35 NHL season. Printed on paper stock with write-ups on the backs in either English or French, the terrific treasures measure approximately 6-7/8" by 9-1/2", with the lowdown as follows. Howie Morenz, pictured in his Chicago Black Hawks uniform, leads the way in terms of importance/value and is among the condition leaders as well, with only a couple of small very light creases to mention. A light crease and/or minor bends are spotted in most but remarkably, 46 of 48 have not been trimmed, as is often the case with Sweet Cap photos. We spot a top-to-bottom crease in the Charlie and Lionel Conacher and Horner photos, while better and displaying well are Hall-of-Famers Connell, Bill and Bun Cook, “Busher”, “Ching”, Joliat, Mantha, Primeau, Stewart, Siebert, “Hooley” and Weiland. The back of Clancy has paper loss at the top and evidence of a removed sticker, while the Eddie Shore picture is one of eight with tape/stains. Trimmed photos, pasted onto scrapbook paper, are those of Aurie and Tiny Thompson. Gorgeous color though will have you oohing and aahhing as you flip through these very infrequently-offered and coveted scarcities. Others with the aforementioned tape and/or tape stains are Crutchfield, Goodfellow, Jenkins, Lamb, Lepine, McGill and Raymond, as well as a second variation (no facsimile autograph) of a Paul Haynes picture.
