This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Legends Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe and Bobby Hull lead the way here, with some two dozen Orr cards led chronologically by Bobby’s 1968-69 O-Pee-Chee regular issue, (#2), in G condition. We also spot a crease or two in most of the rest which are in the G, G+ and VG range and which include ’69-70 Norris Trophy #209, ’70-71 OPC #3 and the four trophy winner cards from ’70-71 and the All-Star and trophy winner cards from ’71-72. A five-year run of regular OPC issues starting with ’73-74 and a ’74-75 Lipton Soup card are the other most notable. A ’69-70 OPC #61 Howe card has evidence of a stamp insert having been removed from the back but is otherwise EX-MT, with Gordie’s regular and all-star cards from ’70-71 in EX and VG condition respectively. A Howe booklet insert and Mr. Hockey’s special collector’s card #262 (VG+) from ’71-72 are also noteworthy. Hull cards meanwhile include ’68-69 OPC #16 (F-G) and #204 All-Star (VG+), ‘70-71 OPC #15 (VG) and #235 All-Star (VG), ’71-72 OPC #50 (P) and #261 All-Star (VG), along with three WHA issues, also in the VG neighborhood. A grab bag of over 100 other cards will provide a few pleasant surprises, with Stan Mikita, Phil and Tony Esposito, Ray Bourque, and Mario Lemieux cards, along with a few miscellaneous rookie cards, bringing the total to well over 200. Other miscellaneous items include a neat Patrick Roy “Headliners” mini figurine and mini mask, the package of which has been nicely autographed by the legend, 1972 Canada-Russia Series and ’76 Canada Cup card sets, a 12-card Topps Black Gold insert set from the 1990s, a ’92-93 Upper Deck “Locker Series” card set of 60, a set of six card-like affairs incorporating Canadian stamps featuring all-time hockey greats and a trio of autographed Montreal Canadiens postcards/photos, signed by Guy Carbonneau and Sheldon Souray (2).
