Coveted Parkhurst treasures began the modern era of hockey card collecting, with all 105 here encapsulated and graded by Canada’s KSA firm. The big three of course are the rookie cards of Gordie Howe (VG 3), Maurice Richard (VGE 4) with a visible crease and Terry Sawchuk (VGE 4) with a diamond cut to mention. Earning lofty marks of NM+ 7.5 are #52-The Winning Goal and Ted Kennedy’s RC, while the rookies of Doug Harvey (ENM 6), Bernie Geoffrion (VG3) and Red Kelly (VGE 4) are among the other most notable. Joining Barilko and Teeder at NM+ 7.5 are nine cards; 37-Gadbsy and 63-Delvecchio, along with #s 23, 78, 79, 90, 92, 95 and 99. Next at NM 7 are eight; 21, 29-Schmidt, 39, 72-Meeker, 74, 89, 91 and 93. Among the (19) to be slabbed ENM+ 6.5 are Hall-of-Famers 26-Quackenbush, 49-Mosienko, 64-Abel, 68-Pronovost, 94-Stanley and 104-Rayner. Highlighting a group of (11) in ENM 6 holders are cards of 48-D. Bentley, 70-Watson, 74-Rollins and 80-Flaman, while leading a group of (18) EX 5 cards are 19-Henry, 47-Lumley, 50-R. Conacher and 75-Broda. Coming in at VGE 4 are Canadiens 3-Bouchard, 5-Olmstead and 7-Johnson, along with nine others including 28-Dumart and 53-Stewart. Completing the ensemble are a dozen examples at VG 3, including 1-Lach, 15-McNeil and 105-J. Conacher, six commons at G 2 and 81-Max Bentley at FP 1. Opportunities to secure a complete set of encapsulated ’51-52 Parkies come along infrequently. Good luck with this tempting group.
