Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Three early stars who all laced up with the long-defunct Montreal Maroons have signed a 3” x 5” cut and include HOFer Hooley Smith (ind. 1972, dec. 1963), Archie Wilcox (dec. 1993), and Paul Haynes (dec. 1989). All three have signed using black fountain pen, with Haynes' signature paled slightly but still perfectly legible. Wilcox has added “Defence” to his name, while both Smith and Haynes have added “Centre” to theirs. Also included is a 4” x 6” HHOF Hooley Smith card and a recently-printed 8 ½” x 10½” of Smith from his Maroon days. Smith was a Montreal Maroon from 1927 to ’36, and also skated with the Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins, and New York Americans. Wilcox spent just over 4 years with the Maroons and also skated with the Bruins and St. Louis Eagles. Haynes was a Maroon from 1930 to ’35, played 37 games with the Boston Bruins in ’34-35, and was a Montreal Canadien from 1935 to 1941. The signatures come with an LOA from Classic Auctions.
