Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

HOF player-turned-manager/coach-turned league president Mervyn “Red” Dutton has signed with clear blue ballpoint pen on the plain side of a lined 3” x 5" index card, with a beautiful flair to his handwriting and the card mark-free. Dutton starred for the Montreal Maroons from 1926 to 1930 and the New York Americans from 1930 to ’36, after which he was appointed manager and coach of the Americans. In 1943 Dutton would become NHL president, a job which carried through to 1946 when he resigned and Clarence Campbell, who he had recommended, stepped in. Dutton, who passed away in 1987, would be inducted into the HOF in the players’ category in 1958. The signature comes with an LOA from Classic Auctions, and included is a recently-printed 8 ½” x 10 ½” b&w photo of Dutton posing in his Americans uniform, plus a 2 ½” x 3 ½” HOF card, both in excellent condition.
