Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Great little autograph book measures 3 1/2" x 5" and the task for our consignor to add signatures to it began on May 7, 1947 in Nanaimo, B.C. when the Montreal Canadiens and NHL All-Stars played an exhibition game at the Nanaimo Civic Arena. Among the signatures obtained that night are deceased HOFers Richard, Blake, Durnan, Adams, Broda, Stewart, Quackenbush, Max and Doug Bentley, Mosienko, Abel, and Bouchard. A rare 4-page program from that night is included, measuring 6" x 9" showing the full lineups (unmarked), with fold creasing. Later on, other sigs would be added to the booklet including HOFers Duff, Bower, Olmstead, Pilote, and Hull, along with signatures from exhibition games in the mid-1960s. Other signatures found in this quaint little booklet include, from the 1947 Canadiens-NHL All-Stars - Fillion, McCaig, McNab, Horeck, Jim Conacher, and Peters. From the 1966 WHL Victoria Maple Leafs are Holland, Millar, Hebenton, the Hucul bros, Sleaver, Marcetta, Lamoureux, Witiuk, Jankowski, and Redahl vs. the AHL Rochester Americans, with signatures from Arbour, Sly, Gamble, Smrke, Litzenberger, and Walton. Others include, from the 1966 California Seals McCartan, Morrisette, Evans, Gravel, Odrowski, Picard, Harris, Maxner, Gilbertson, Burns, Belisle, Swarbrick, and Kennedy; from the 1966 San Diego Gulls are McNabb, MacMillan, Hilts, Ehrenverth, Nicholson, Panagabko, Topoll, and Hines; and signatures from the 1967 Los Angeles Blades include Kelly, Lebrun, Labine, O'Ree, Johnson, Hall, and Norris. Please note, although some signatures have been taped into the booklet, the big-name signatures from the Habs-All-Star game in 1947 were all written directly onto the pages. Various other signatures from the aforementioned mid-1960s exhibition games are in the booklet as well but not listed here.
