Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
A couple of wicked looking one-piece wooden sticks from the turn of the 20th century, used for ice hockey or ice polo, a precursor to the modern game and popular in the late 1800s. One example measures approximately 38” and is stamped on the lower part of the shaft as “No. 80”, while the other, at approximately 36”, has a “Petson” stamp on the shaft. Game wear is displayed on both in the form of various nicks and marks, and otherwise remain solid as a rock, with the “Petson” example showing a slight area of the wood near the heel coming apart ever-so-slightly. Both well-made, unique, and ready as a fascinating display.
