Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Ready to display splendidly on your shelf is this vintage 70+-year old silver-plated hockey trophy measuring 14" on a 7" wooden base, and inscribed on the top as "Offert Par Le Major L. Ferland A La Ligue De Hockey Des Residents De Cartierville", and with the base showing players' names on plaques from 5 years ('36-37, '37-38, '38-39, '39-40, and '45-46), along with the center plaques "Champions" and "L'AASC". The black wooden base, unscrewed from the top, has nicks and scratches scattered throughout, and the plaques are tarnished with age. The top part of the trophy remains in nice shape with general tarnishing and faint surface scratching, and leans just slightly to the right. All in all, definitely a beauty from years gone by.
The teams have borrowed their names from NHL teams and include Canadiens, Maroons, and Bulldogs, and the '39-40 Canadiens plaque is slightly loose but still solidly in place. It is also very possible to reconnect top to bottom. Cartierville is a neighborhood in the north end of Montreal.
