Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Full-body poses of the 1934-35 Stanley Cup champion Montreal Maroons are featured on this framed panoramic style Black Horse Ale & Porter advertising piece. The Maroons swept Toronto in a best-of-five final as Baldy Northcott scored the Cup-winner in the clincher at the Forum. HOF goalie Alex Connell held the Leafs to four goals in the three victories. The stovepipe-like Stanley Cup of the day, coach Tommy Gorman, Lionel Conacher, Hooley Smith and a young Toe Blake are among those pictured in the 13" by 30" piece, which has vertical and horizontal crease lines that show where this vintage image was folded in eighths. Otherwise, it retains vivid colors with some other light creasing. Mounted in a maroon and white double matte and modern wood frame, this vintage team photo montage remains a very desirable souvenir of the Maroons’ second and final Stanley Cup win.
