Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Ultra-cool is this Wayne Gretzky Oilers game-issued wood Titan, unused and untaped, stamp-dated near the bottom of the shaft as “Oct. 25, 1983”, and signed by Gretzky on the shaft along with Mario Lemieux, who has added his name at the top of the shaft, Kirk Muller has penned his on the backside top, and Mike Bullard’s sig is near the bottom. A few other illegible names are on the stick as well. Gretzky has signed using blue ink which has paled slightly with added smudging, while Mario’s vintage signature is in blue ballpoint pen and is clear and distinct. Muller and Bullard also used blue ballpoint pen and are also clear and legible. The stick itself remains in excellent and unmarked condition, and has “W. Gretzky” stamped on the upper shaft. According to our consignor, this stick was signed at the 1984 NHL draft, which indeed is where Lemieux and Muller were drafted in the number 1 and 2 spots.
