Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
The key signatures of Wayne Gretzky and Jacques Plante grace the vintage Edmonton Oilers 30" felt pennants offered here, with Gretzky’s rookie-era autograph written in clear pencil (with the notation “Jim” added”) on an Oilers example that remains in good condition, (yellowed somewhat) with pin holes in the corners. The other pennant, also with pin holes and slight amount of staining on the yellowed surface, is signed by members of the 1974-75 WHA Edmonton Oilers on which deceased HOFer Jacques Plante (ind. 1978, dec. 1986) has penned his name in clear black ink. Joining Jacques in signing this vintage pennant are Laing, Kennett, Patenaude, Perkins, Worthy, MacGregor, Carlyle, Sheehan, Baird, Rogers, McKay, Gilmore, MacDonald, Joyal, Morris, Sheehy, and Barrie. All sigs are clear and legible, with Sheehy’s in blue while the rest are in black.
