Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Intriguing original 7" by 9" photo pictures Canadiens' legend Howie Morenz NOT on his death bed in 1937, but after having broken his thumb in the final game of Montreal's 1933-34 season, when the Habs were eliminated by Chicago. The damaged hand, which helped fire many a puck past NHL netminders, is visibly swollen. The game marked Howie's last before being traded to the Black Hawks just prior to the '34-35 campaign. VG condition photo includes the actual Montreal Star newspaper clipping of it pasted to the back, identifying nurse Dorothy John.
