Bobby Orr’s team-signed 1971-72 Stanley Cup champions Boston Bruins Victoriaville Pro game-used stick is the type used by the Great No. 4 during the Bruins’ 1972 Cup run. Orr is among 15 members of the 1971-72 Bruins who have signed in bold marker along the shaft of this beauty with “B. Orr” and “4” stamped on the shaft. The original white over black ribbed tape job remains on the knob. The outline of Bobby’s distinctive tape job removed from the blade is clearly visible. “220” is stamped in red on the top of the butt end and the yellow, white and black celluloid tape remains low on the shaft while the upper band in Bruins colors is missing. Orr’s big, bold red marker signature sits on the upper part of the shaft. Fellow HOFers Esposito, Bucyk and Cheevers are among the 15 bold marker autographs with 13 in red marker and two others in black. Also includes a 1971-72 team-signed program, missing its lineup page, that is autographed by 10 members of the Cup champion Bruins featuring Orr’s dedicated signature. Comes with a Classic Auctions letter of authenticity.
The 1971-72 season was the last Orr used tape on his blade as well as the the "Victoriaville Hockey Sticks Ltd" stamp on the shaft. Game wear shows in black marks on the blade which has a nice smooth bottom edge.
The team-signed stick also displays red marker autographs from the likes of Ed Johnston, Wayne Cashman, Dallas Smith, Ken Hodge, Fred Stanfield, Reggie Leach, Derek Sanderson, Don Awrey (smudged) and Mike Walton (first name smudged). The late Garnet “Ace” Bailey is among the two black marker signatures.
Orr’s dedicated autograph is on the lower part of the team-signed program, which features bold black ballpoint signatures on the top and bottom of the cover. The program is also autographed by the likes of fellow HOFers Bucyk and Cheevers, as well as Stanfield, John “Pie” McKenzie, Cashman, Dallas Smith, Bailey and Don Marcotte.
