Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Terry Sawchuk’s signature tops the list of 6 notebook sheets (3” x 5 ½”) lined with late-1950s, early-1960s mostly Detroit Red Wings autographs penned in clear blue ink and verified by PSA/DNA. Sawchuk’s is always a desirable one to have, and this one’s as nice as can be. The great goaltender, deceased in 1970 and inducted into the HOF in 1971, is joined by HOF player, coach, and GM Jack Adams (ind. 1959, dec. 1968), who has signed in clear, dark pencil on the reverse and definitely another desirable signature in the hobby. There are also 2 Gordie Howe sigs and 2 Sid Abel examples, along with Red Kelly, Forbes Kennedy, John Bucyk, Alex Delvecchio, Murray Oliver, Gerry Odrowski, Norm Ullman, Marc Reaume, and one other, along with Gord Labossiere who never laced up with Detroit..
The PSA/DNA plastic holders measure 6 ½” x 10” and the signature pages have all been graded 8 or 9. Howe, Abel, Kelly, Bucyk, Ullman and Delvecchio are in the Hall of Fame along with Sawchuk and Adams, and although most think of Bucyk as a long time Boston Bruins star, he played 38 regular season games with Detroit in ’55-56 and 66 games in 1956-57.
