Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
The proud members of the 1931-32 Stanley Cup champion Toronto Maple Leafs are pictured here in this classic 8"x10" jigsaw puzzle, in VG/EX condition and mounted in an 11” x 14” wood frame with matte, with a young Foster Hewitt pictured in the upper right of the General Motors Hockey Broadcast-sponsored 100-piece puzzle. Also offered is a terrific 1962-63 metal tray celebrating the Leafs ’62-63 Cup win, with the images of a Leaf player, the Stanley Cup and Prince of Wales Trophy, and facsimile Leafs autographs displayed. Rounding out the lot is a set of 10 Maple Leafs “Hockey Talks” 33 1/3 RPM records in their sleeves, featuring the 1966-67 gang that includes Armstrong, Bower, Imlach, Keon, Horton and others. All 3 lots a definite prerequisite to a vintage Maple Leafs collection! The men in the great 1931-32 puzzle who contributed to the Leafs’ first Stanley Cup title include Clancy, Horner, Conacher, Jackson, Primeau, Bailey and captain Hap Day, the latter joined in the front row by fellow Hall of Famers Smythe, Selke and Irvin. The Leafs serving tray, measuring 10 ¼” x 17”, has some very minor surface scratching to note, along with a protective pad missing from the bottom of one handle and remnants of a piece of tape on the bottom, making this in very nice condition overall. The other Leafs in the “Hockey Talks” set include Mahovlich, Ellis, Shack, Selby, and Pulford. All 10 examples remain in wonderful condition with their 33 1/3 RPM discs intact and all picture sleeves basically issue-free with only subtle hints of handling and aging. As a bonus, Tim Horton’s sleeve contains 2 identical discs instead of 1!
