Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Two vintage hockey Memorandum of Agreements, with the first, dated as December 19, 1946, is for player John Louis Leclair, with the typed page filled in with handwritten pen regarding such info as "One thousand dollars" upon signing contract etc. At the bottom is a great signature from the legendary Hap Day, signed in clear blue fountain pen. The second document, with an NHL registry stamp, is dated as August 9th, 1948 and involves player Charles Lumsden and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The paper shows slightly different figures from the first document (although not much), and at the bottom is signed in clear blue ballpoint pen by Leafs president and builder Conn Smythe.
Both pieces measure 8 1/2" x 14" and have envelope folds, slight wear on their edges, and a touch of yellowing on the Campbell piece, but all in all remain in great condition. Day, an all-star defenceman who went on to become a Leafs executive in various capacities, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1961 and was deceased in 1990. Smythe was inducted in 1958 and deceased in 1980.
