Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
The mighty Guy Lafleur, after his brilliant 14 years of stardom while wearing the bleu, blanc, et rouge, would retire for three years but emerge in the 1988-89 season as a member of the New York Rangers before finishing off with the Quebec Nordiques for two final seasons. Lafleur would garner a very respectable 45 points in 67 games with the Blueshirts, and it was during this season that Le Demon Blond was awarded with this silver-plated brass "Team Player" tray measuring 15” in diameter, with some tarnishing to the silver-plated finish and a scattering of surface scratching. The tray is engraved as “Guy Lafleur, Players Player Award, As Selected by the 1988-89 N.Y. Ranger Team, Presented by the West Side Association of Commerce, Inc”. The award is voted on by Rangers players, recognizing the player who best exemplifies what it means to be a team player. A small logo on the back edge shows that it’s silver plated.
