Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Hockey legend Babe Siebert has signed in two places on his daughter’s June 1939 report card just over a year before his tragic death. Siebert had been hired as the Montreal Canadiens’ coach following the 1939-40 season but never got to step behind the bench because he drowned near the family cottage on August 25, 1939. Siebert, who was inducted into the HOF in 1964, signed “A C Siebert” in black fountain pen ink twice on his daughter Shirley’s Grade Five report card which measures 8” x 5”. Both examples are nice with the upper one slightly bolder. Siebert’s wife signed “Mrs. A.C. Siebert” on the three other lines on the report card. A Siebert HOF hockey card is included. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA plus an additional letter of provenance.
