NHL 1960-61 League Champions covered entrée dish was presented to deceased HOFer Bernie Geoffrion in the wake of Boom-Boom’s 50-goal season for the Montreal Canadiens. This classic memento of the times is featured among five pieces that were originally silver-plated and which the Boomer subsequently had gold plated. “National Hockey League League Champions 1960-1961 Club de Hockey Canadien Inc Bernard Geoffrion” is engraved on the 9 1/4" x 7” double-handled lid of the 10 1/4" x 8” entrée dish. Also included are a creamer and sugar bowl that were part of a tea service set given for the 1955-56 Stanley Cup. The water pitcher and tea pot are most likely from similar sets. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
The engraved entrée dish has some tarnish spots on the lid, and some more tarnish inside the lid. There are much less tarnish spots in the dish itself.
The creamer and sugar bowl stand about 4” tall with spots of tarnish on the sugar bowl and less on the creamer. The handled water jug stands 8” tall with some tarnish on the handle and inside the mouth and a small dent on the left edge of the base. The lidded tea pot stands about 9 1/2" tall with some elegant engraving on either side of the pot and some light spots of tarnish throughout.
