Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Awesome vintage team photo montage obtained from the family of 1912-13 Sydney Millionaires forward Ken Randall is a truly rare studio print of the Cape Breton team that challenged the Quebec Bulldogs for the Stanley Cup. Randall scored one of five Millionaires goals during the two-game series in Quebec City from March 8-10, but Bulldogs great Joe Malone potted nine in the first game alone as Quebec defended the Cup in winning both games. Randall, who went on to win both of Toronto’s first two NHL Stanley Cups in 1918 and 1922, is pictured beside team captain A. McDonald in the top row of inset photos on this original 17” x 14” print by Weeler Photo studio. This 100-plus year old team photo exhibits plenty of handling but is ready for worthy framing.
The Millionaires’ trophy as champions of the Maritime Professional Hockey Association sits front and center in the photo montage.
The top right corner of the print is torn off and there are spotted green stains above player P. Tigh on the far right of the top row. The bottom left corner is also missing a torn piece, while the two other corners have tiny missing torn pieces. There are various tears along the edges and margins into the photo, with one touching trainer William Parsons, whose portrait has marks on the right side of his face. There is a small hole on the right edge of player H. McKenzie’s portrait on the far left side of the top row with a more green spotted stains on the left side of his image and in the top left corner, as well as a few on the bottom corners.
