Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

HOF goalie Gerry Cheevers actually made his NHL debut with Toronto and he jumped to the WHA to play for Cleveland. That said, whenever you think of that iconic mask covered with black “stitches” you always see him wearing Boston Bruins black and gold in your mind’s eye. A member of the two-time Stanley Cup champion Big, Bad Bruins of the early-1970s, Cheesy returned to the Bruins during his fourth season with the Crusaders in 1975-76 and completed his NHL career with Boston in 1979-80. Offered is Cheevers’ 1978-79 Bruins game-worn jersey which displays three team repairs, including one on the front and one each on both sleeves. Stall & Dean, size 54 and laundry instruction tagging sits in the back of the neck and this gamer has its original double garter-style fight strap. Black mesh game-worn jersey has a yellow knit collar and yellow knit bottom band around the hem. More game wear shows in marks on the Hub crest on the front and on the right sleeve. Please note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve. Cheevers went 23-9-10 with the Bruins during his second-to-last season in 1978-79, and 4-2 in the playoffs while sharing the net with Gilles Gilbert. He also played for the NHL All-Stars during the Challenge Cup against the Soviet national team.
