All-Star goalie Gilles Gilbert’s 1975-76 Bruins gamer with half a dozen team repairs displays the number 1 on the back and both sleeves he wore during his tenure in Boston, the peak of his NHL career. Gilbert went 33-8-10 during the regular season with a 2.90 GAA and three shutouts, and split equally a dozen playoff games with HOFer Gerry Cheevers, who returned to the Bruins from the WHA late in the season. The jersey’s fight strap was cut and the outline of the circular state bicentennial patches that once sat up on each shoulder are visible, along with thread visible on the inside of the jersey, after they were removed by the team at the end of the season. These were replaced with this set of embroidered bear head patches and this game-worn jersey was recycled for the following preseason and then a few games into the regular season in 1976-77. There is evidence of a former TV nameplate and Wilson tagging in the neck has a faint handwritten size 52. A couple of tiny spots of red goalpost paint transfer on the back and some reddish staining on the lower back and the lower part of both sleeves, either discoloration from paint transfer or inner goaltending gear that bled. Please note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve.
