Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Those who longed for Canada Cup-type action got a dandy fix with the inaugural 1996 World Cup of Hockey that featured the best from Canada, the USA, Russia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Sweden and Slovakia. And when the dust had finally settled, the tournament belonged to Team USA after defeating Canada in a best-of-three final after American goaltender Mike Richter had stood on his head throughout, and the player the Americans relied heavily on for his scoring prowess, Brett Hull, did just that with his 7 goals and 4 assists in 7 games. From the collection of Brett Hull is his game-worn USA jersey from that dramatic ’96 World Cup, tagged in the collar as a “Nike” (size) 56, and with an abundance of game marks scattered about the front, back, and on both sleeves, showing that Brett definitely meant business. As a capper, this gamer (with the World Cup patch sewn on the left sleeve and cut fight strap inside), is photo-matched to several areas, and comes complete with an LOA signed by Brett Hull. Simply awesome. We’ve photo-matched this gamer to the black mark on the left elbow in the white section, the black mark in the middle of the “5” on the left sleeve, the black mark just below the “A” of USA, and a small red thread in the lower red part of the “S” of USA. (The photo-match photo has the World Cup patch photoshopped as the image of Brett wearing this jersey was used for the 1998 Olympic Hockey Heroes card picture). Not only did Hull lead the scoring parade in the ’96 World Cup as his team won it all, but he was naturally one of the three forwards on the World Cup All-Star team.
